Accessibility Report & Best Practices

We performed an accessibility scan of your website before and after launch. The report is in the Design TLC Website Planning Google Sheet (linked from pink button above). We did our best to avoid remediate any errors and minimize warnings. We do not test PDFs or create transcripts for videos. Best Practices – Things to note to help keep your website in compliance with WCAG best practices:

• Always add Alt Text to Images (see Images instructions for more information)
• Use H1, H2, H3 in hierarchical order – these are not design elements.
  • There should only be one H1 per page and that tis the page title which is part of the page template and should be added automatically.
  • You can make an H2 smaller than an H3 for design purposes (though its best to stick with the global styles created for your website for consistency). The point is that there cannot be an H3 on the page before and H2 is used above it.
  • Do not use ambiguous text for links (ie “Click Here”). Screen readers need to define the purpose of the link. When adding links, link the whole phrase (“Click here to view our mission statement”)
