You can add new users to your WordPress site and assign them roles based on the level of access they need. This is useful for staff members, content contributors, or anyone who will help manage your website.

Steps to Add a New User

  1. In the WordPress Dashboard, go to Users > Add New.
  2. Enter the user’s username, email address, and other optional details like first and last name.
  3. Set a role for the user:
    • Administrator – Full access to the entire site (reserved for trusted team members).
    • Editor – Can add, edit, and delete content, but cannot manage site settings.
    • Author – Can write and publish their own posts.
    • Contributor – Can write posts but cannot publish them.
    • Subscriber – Can manage their profile and view private content, if applicable.
  4. Check the box to Send User Notification so WordPress emails the new user a link to set their password.
  5. Click Add New User to save.

Completing the Setup

  • The new user will receive an email with a link to set their password.
  • Ask them to check their Spam or Junk folder if they do not see the email in their inbox.
  • Encourage them to create a strong, secure password to help keep your site protected.
Pro Tip: Limit Administrator access to trusted users only. Using strong, unique passwords and assigning the lowest necessary role improves your site’s security.
